The principal as a supervisor in encouraging the development and progress of the school, curriculum and personnel, but also has the responsibility and role in developing the professional performance of teachers in accountability for the success of students and the programs being run.
Based on the problem formulation, the researcher wants to know, what is the role of the principal as a supervisor in developing professional teacher performance. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 2 Jeumpet, Aceh Besar District.
This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The research subjects were 1 principal and 2 class teachers at SD Negeri 2 Jeumpet, Aceh Besar District. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation, interviews regarding the role of the principal as a supervisor in developing professional teacher performance.
Based on the results of data analysis, from data reduction, data collection and drawing conclusions, the role of the principal in carrying out his duties as a supervisor in developing professional teacher performance at SD Negeri 2 Jeumpet related to the duties of teachers in educating, teaching, guiding, directing, training, assessing and evaluate students who have played a good role. This is shown from the results of observations and interviews with school principals and teachers. However, there are still teachers who are constrained by the lack of facilities available in schools.
Overall the role of the principal is good in implementing his role as a supervisor, only there must be additional follow-up supervision for the success and progress of the school. Therefore, teachers and principals must work well together so that school goals are better and achieved.
