Title : The Influence of Teacher toward Students’ Motivation in
Learning English

This study intended to find out the influence of teacher toward students’ motivation
in learning English and how the teacher’s competence influence the students’
motivation in learning English. In this study, the writer used survey research.The
population of this study was all of the third grade students of SMAN 9 Banda Aceh,
while the samples were the students of class 31A-1 which consists of 24 students.
The research instrument carried out in this study was the questionnaires adopted
from Zhao (2011) which consists of 5 questions. The kind of questionnaire which
was used in this study close and open questionnaire. The result of this study shows
that teacher’s competence (personality, cognitive, affective, and psychomotor)
enhance students’ motivation in learning English. The goals of this study is hopefully
beneficial for both teacher and students. Firstly, the teacher will know the strategies
that can be used to motivate students in learning English . Secondly, the students will
be aware of teacher in influencing their motivation in learning English. Thus, teacher
is as an external factor influence students’ motivation in learning English.
