THE SUPERVISION OF PRINCIPAL IN THE LEARNING PROCESS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN BANDA BARU SUB-DISTRICT OF PIDIE JAYA REGENCY
Education supervision in school was performed by the principal as the supervisor. This research aimed to describe the principal efforts in supervising the teachers in the learning process during the covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research was descriptive with a qualitative approach. The research result showed that: Education supervision at Senior High Schools in Bandar Baru Sub-district of Pidie Jaya Regency was conducted through several stages, namely: planning, implementation, and follow-up (evaluation). The education supervision was performed by the principal and assisted by the vice-principal and senior teachers. The teacher stated that they acknowledged that the principal had arranged the supervision schedule. The principal arranged the program before supervising the teachers because if the program is not prepared properly beforehand, then the implementation will not be going as expected. The programs that have been prepared regarding the schedule of activities consist of the start and end date of the implementation, the instruments needed, the goals to be achieved, the design for the teachers’ professional skills development, improving the teacher work motivation, and how to ensure that educational supervision can run well. The principal plans to carry out educational supervision of teachers at least once, and a maximum of twice a year, namely once in odd semesters and once in even semesters. The implementation was held at the beginning and end of the semester, both odd semesters and even semesters.
