Backgrounds : Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease that has increased cases every year. Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus will lead to complications of diabetic neuropathy. A numbers of study showed a different result about diabetic neuropathy. Objective : To analyse the association of age, sex, duration of illness, medication adherence, diet, obesity, physical activity, hypertension history and smoking history with diabetic neuropathy. and to analyse a dominant factor for diabetic neuropaty at Darul Imarah Public Health Center in 2021. Methode: This study used cross sectional design. Sample numbered 92 respondents, The sampling technique used consecutive sampling. Independent variables are age, sex, duration of illness, medication adherence, diet, obesity, physical activity, hypertentension history and smoking history. Presence of diabetic neuropathy measured with Diabetic Neuropaty Symptom (DNS). Bivariate analysis used Chi-square correlation test and Fisher’s Exact Test. Whereas multivariate analysis used logistic regression. There is an association between age (p = 0,001; OR =18,33), duration of illness (p = 0,004; OR = 9,120), medication adherence (p = 0,004; OR = 8,296), diet (p = 0,018; OR = 5,333), obesity (p = 0,022; OR = 4,974), physical activity (p = 0,006; OR = 7,233), and hypertension history (p = 0,010, OR = 6,364) with diabetic neuropathy. The most dominant factor was physical activity (p=0,020 ; OR = 8,445, 95% CI = 1,394 < OR < 51,170). Conclusion : Factors influencing the onset of diabetic neuropathy are age, duration of illness, medication adherence, diet, obesity, physical activity and hypertension history. While the most dominant factor was physical activity.
