The Family Hope Program (PKH) is one of the poverty alleviation programs with the aim of improving the quality of life of the community and reducing the burden of spending on the very poor, which was formed in 2007. South Aceh Regency was only summarized in 2013 with the number of Beneficiary Families (KPM) fluctuating every year with a tendency to increase and accompanied by an increase in the poverty rate in 2014-2017. So the research was conducted to test the effectiveness of PKH in an effort to reduce poverty in Tapaktuan District, South Aceh Regency. This research is a research with field survey method and secondary data. The data collection technique used a questionnaire that was distributed directly to KPM PKH in Tapaktuan District with a total sample of 76 KPM from 319 KPM PKH. Where income after receiving PKH assistance with a high level of significance cannot be said to be effective because the difference in income before and after receiving PKH is very small. However, it is effective in terms of program targeting, understanding the objectives of PKH, socialization and program monitoring by the local government. Characteristics of respondents simultaneously affect the income of KPM PKH by 34.5 percent, which means it can directly reduce the poverty rate in South Aceh and the rest is influenced by factors outside this study and also other poverty reduction programs. KPM PKH income is not influenced by age characteristics of KPM but is influenced by KPM education level, number of KPM dependents and KPM marital status, or is influenced by the number of KPM PKH dependents predominantly.
