Thesis Title : Teaching Writing of Descriptive Text by Using Mind
Mapping Technique for Junior High School Students

This study is entitled "Teaching Writing of Descriptive Text by Using Mind Mapping for Junior High School Students ". The objective of this study is to examine at some given theories or research on the using of mind mapping technique for writing descriptive text. The discussion of this stud} is focused on the effectiveness of using mind mapping technique in writing descriptive text and using Contextual Teaching and Learning method in solving students' problem in teaching and learning process in writing descriptive text. The study found that mind map is a good strategy to use in learning in order to support students being motivated especially in writing class and creates the good attitudes to them to be better in writing a descriptive text. The method used in this study is library research. Readings obtained from various arc processed and described in a descriptive way. Based on the research findings and experts' statements. it is examined that picture series is effective to improve students' writing skill. This study is expected to be useful for English teachers and readers.
