The method used in this study is library research, which the materials are accessed through the library and the internet. The objective of this study is to look at some given theories and/or research findings on the use of Think -- Pair - Share in teaching reading. Reading is considered as a complex skill, it requires not only the reading activity, but also ability to understand the content. However, the students can hardly comprehend the reading text even in the simple text. There are two major problems faced by the students in Junior High School; finding main idea and lack of vocabulary. Think - Pair - Share aims at improving the students' participation and their achievement in the process of teaching and learning reading skill. The study found that using the one of the technique of Cooperative leaming Method; Think - Pair -- Share can help students to be able to comprehend the reading text. Furthermore, think-Pair-Share brings advantages to the students as a tool for enriching their vocabulary and indicating main idea in a text. Think -- Pair -- Share is a method that allows students work in group. in which the students are trained to socialize to each other and exchange information through discussion. Students are expected to receive and give some information by other students in class, as a result their comprehension in reading become well.
