Title : The Application of Communicative Language Teaching in
Teaching Speakingfor Senior High School Students

Communicative Language Teaching is one of a flexible method in teaching speaking skiU which assumes the students are able to acquire written or oral language and emphasize them on a practice as a way for communicative skills development. The objective of this study is to look at some given theories and/or research findings on the use of Communicative Language Teaching for teaching speaking skill. The discussion of the approach is focused on particular technique of Communicative Language Teaching namely small group. Small group is a technique which enables to develop classroom speaking skill. The goal of small group technique is to encourage the students to speak in front of other people and share their ideas with their friends in the classroom. It will make them more active and confident when they learning and speak English. The method of this study is library research. The collected data are classified from some theories suggested by the experts systematically. Based on the research findings and experts' statements, it is found that the use of Communicative Language Teaching is effective to increase the students' communication. This study is expected to be useful for other English teachers.
