Abstract Name : Riki Muhamanda Student No. 1406102010008 Department/Strata : Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris/Strata Satu Title : The Society Perception towards the Impact of University Student Goes to Children Community for Improving Young Learners’ English Competence Keywords : Perception, society, University Student. Goes, Children Community, and English Competence The English language is essential for everyone in the 21 century. Various efforts have been done by the government and educational institutions to motivate learners to learn the language. The purpose of this research is to find out the perception of society towards the University Student Goes to Children community for improving young learners’ English competence through using the Fun-Game-Awards method. The research design used in this study is quantitative research by using a questionnaire as the instrument. The population of this research was the society of the four villages in a total number of 80 and the sample of this research was the society in each village with a total number of 20. From the analysis, the results of this study can be concluded that the society's perception towards the impact of the University Student Goes to Children community in improving the English competence of the villages' young learners is very positive and welcomed by the villagers. The volunteer team is very helpful in increasing children's interest to learn English. The Fun-Game-Awards method greatly enhances the children's competence in learning English. This means that this method can be used as a teaching approach to teach English for Young Learners (EYL). Based on the questionnaire, it seems that the continuity of the teaching and learning process carried out by the University Student Goes to Children community is very important. If the community stops and does not continue teaching the children anymore, they will lose the centers or places to learn English for free. This research can be an instrument to measure and increase the teaching quality of the University Student Goes to Children community and other communities.
