Name : Fira Maulida Student No : 0706 102050054 Study Program : English Education Thesis Title : The Application of Think Pair Share Model to Improve Students' Speaking Performance The purpose of this study is explore some theories, statements or research findings which would be useful for improving students' ability in teaching speaking which then leads to the improvement of the students' skill of speaking. The students have difficulties in mastering speaking skill. The student's prior knowledge about speaking skill is not well. One of them is by using think pair share model based on cooperative learning. The method which is used in this study was library research to investigate the application of Think Pair Share model in teaching speaking. The result of this study showed that Think Pair Share is one of models based on cooperative learning which can be used in teaching English especially in teaching speaking to give solution for the students who get problem in speaking, especially in finding and explaining the idea. Think pair share has the process to construct students' comprehension in speaking such as; think. and share with the pair. It matches to practice the dialogue form; a student is as a speaker and another as a listener. Then, the application of think pair share can be used in teaching speaking skill to the students, especially junior high school students in the first grade. They stiU have many problems in developing their skills, especially in speaking which is usually considered as difficult skills among others. Therefore,the application of think pair share can be as a good model to improve and develop students'ability in speaking.
