Name : Cut Monalisa Student Number : 0506102020022 Study Program : English Title : Improving Students' Writing Skills through Teacher Response Approach Writing is considered as a complicated process so that in teaching writing, teacher has to find a good way to help students master the skill. In teaching writing, a teacher should also provide and analyze the students strengths and weaknesses. However, in the practice, teaching writing always left behind from the other three skills; reading, speaking, and listening. Therefore, teacher response is believed as a must in teaching writing. This study obviously explains about how teacher response affects students' writing skills and motivations. Furthermore, this research elaborates the ways in giving response. This study uses Jibrary research as the method, so secondary data from books, journals, articles, and websites is examined to meet the objective of this research. It is found that teacher response or feedback is divided into some types and each type can be used to obtain different goals. In short, it is proved in this research that teacher response improve students' writings and increase students' uptakes that lead to the improvement of motivation. eywords: teacher response, feedback, types of feedback, motivation
