Name : Fitria Student Numbe r: 0606102050 I 07 Title : The Implementation of Total Physical Response inImproving Students' Listening Skill This thesis entitles "The Implementation of Total Physical Response Method in Improving Students' Listening Skill. The dependent variable of this thesis is listening skill of the students, while the independent variable is the Total Physical Response method. Tb.is thesis was conducted to generate the question whether TotaJ Physical Response method can improve students' Listening skill or not and whether the students' active or not The research population is the students of SD Negeri 22 Banda Aceh. The samples of th.is study were students class VA and total of the sample were 35 students. The data in this study were collected on February 12" and February 19" 2011. The instruments used are test and observation sheet. The test consists of20 questions. The data oftest were analyzed by using t-formula to find out the t-score. The score of pre-test and post-test could be the evidence of their improvement after conducting the research. As the matter of fact, the mean score of the pre-test was 46,57 while the mean score of post-test was 75,42. It means that the post-test was higher than pre-test score. In brief, the students' understanding increased significantly. It is also found that the difference of value of t-score and t• table. The value oft-score in this research is 5.516 and the value oft-table is 2.042. The result about the observation sheet is the students very active in learning process. They comprehended better and interest to learn English with th.is method. It means that using of Total Physical Response can improve students' listening skill and make the learning process very active.
