Name : Yusnita Student No : 0706102050077 Study Program : English Education Thesis Title : The Application ofCooperative Learning in Teaching Reading Comprehension through Jigsawfor Senior High School Students. The objective of this study is to look at some given theories and/or research findings on the use of cooperative learning for teaching reading skilll. The discussion of the approach is focused on a particular technique under the cooperative learning, namely Jigsaw Technique. Readings obtained from various are processed and described in a descriptive way. The study found that using jigsaw can facilitate the students exchange their ideas and/or information in a useful manner. Besides, each student has equal opportunity to read or practice the language. It also found that the students are highly motivated and pleased to learn the language in many aspects of language. The method used in this study is library research. Based on the research findings and experts' statements, it is found that cooperative learning is effective to enhance the students' reading skill. This study is expected to be useful for other English teachers.
