This thesis is under the title "The Use of Annotation Strategy to Improve Students' Reading Comprehension." Annotation is one of the strategies in reading comprehension which helps the reader to concentrate while reading and learn from the text. It improves comprehension and increase concentration. This study is aimed to find out whether annotation strategy can improve students' reading comprehension or not. To obtain the data for this thesis, the writer conducted an experimental study at MAN Model Banda Aceh. The second grade students were taken as the subject of this study. The writer took two classes randomly from nine classes. The students' achievement is scored by using pretest and posttest. Pretest is conducted before the experimental in order to know students' score before treated by using annotation strategy. Otherwise, posttest is to know the students' achievement after treated by using annotation strategy. To find the result of this study, the writer used T-score. The result of the posttest showed that the mean scores of experimental group is 60.86 and the control group is 47.41 and the result of T-score showed 4.70 and T-table at level of significant 0.05 (2.00) and at level of significant 0.01 (2.65). This indicates that the result of the test of experimental group is higher than control group. Comparing to the t-table, the score is appropriate to prove the hypothesis. It can be concluded that the use of annotation strategy gives more contribution to students' reading comprehension.
