Title : An Analysis of Problems Faced by English Teachers in Writing Lesson Plan

This research aimed at investigating the problems faced by English teachers in writing lesson plan. It also tried to find out how English teachers solved the problems in writing lesson plan based on the 2013 curriculum at SMA 5 Banda Aceh. A descriptive qualitative was undertaken by using semi-structured interview to obtain information from four English teachers in SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh. The result of the study showed that there were seven problems faced by English teachers in writing lesson plan based on the 2013 curriculum, namely ‘the student’s status’, ‘adjustment of curriculum changes’, ‘syntax of learning models’, ‘developing materials’, ‘determining teaching methods’, ‘determining indicators’, ‘making assessment’. Moreover, the solutions used to face the problems in writing lesson plan are asking other English teachers, attending MGMP, using internet and a guidebook. In conclusion, English teachers at SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh still need to overcome a number of problems to improve the knowledge regarding writing lesson plan based on the 2013 curriculum.
