The objective of this research is to find out students’ achievement in reading comprehension by applying the Group Work Technique. The descriptive quantitative method was used in this research. The samples of this research were the first year students of SMA Negeri 1 Kembang Tanjong, Pidie which were divided into experimental class and control class. The instrument used in this research was test; pre -test and post-tests. The data collected through test were analyzed using statistical formula of mean score and standard deviation. The result of the data analysis of quantitative can be seen from the result of the post- test scores of each class in which that the mean of the post-test scores of the experimental class is 79,4 while the mean of the post-test scores of the control class is 61,42. By comparing t-test score and t-table score, it is shown that the result of t-test is 7,95 while the result of t-table at the level of significance with ?=0,05 is 2,51. It means that t-test score higher than t-table score (7,95>2,51). In this phase, alternative hypothesis is accepted. It can conclude that the students who are taught by implementing group work technique achieve a better score in reading comprehension than those who are taught without applying the technique
