Abstract Name : Aulia Rahman Student No. : 1106102020051 Study Program : English Education Title : The Effectiveness of Using Video Clips with Small Group and Individual Activities on Students’ Speaking skills (An Experimental Study at MTsN Rukoh Banda Aceh) Key words: Teaching Speaking, Video Clips, Small Group This quantitative study was aimed to investigate whether there is significant difference between the use of video clips with small group activity and the use of video clips with individual activity on students’ speaking skills. The quasi experimental with non-equivalent control group pre-test post-test design was undertaken to overcome the problem of speaking. This research utilized oral pre-test and post-tests to collect the data. Two first grade classes of junior high school were chosen in this study to receive treatment for three weeks. The data was then analyzed by using independent t-test. The calculation showed that the post-test score of the Small group activity (67.27) was higher than the Individual activity (51.29) with the significant standard 0.00 < 0.05. Vocabulary and Pronunciation were the most significantly improved aspects after being taught by using video clips with small group activity compared to individual activity. The result of the research revealed that there is significant different between the use of video clips with small group activity and the use of video clips with individual activity. Thus, video clips with small group activity can be used as one of the alternative method in teaching English particularly speaking in EFL classes.
