Title : Improving Students’ Speaking Ability by Using Guessing Games Technique
(An Experimental Research at Seventh Year Students of SMP N 1 Mutiara)

The aims of this study was to find out whether the use of Guessing Games Technique in improving students’ speaking ability. In this study, the writer used one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample was the students in class VII-8 of SMP N 1 Mutiara, Beureunuen, Pidie. There were five meeting, at the first meeting was pre-test, at second, third, and fourth was treatment, and the last is post-test. The result data of analysis indicated that the students’ score of speaking after taught by using Guessing games has been improved. From the five elements of speaking, comprehension was more increase than other elements. The mean score of post-test is higher than of the pre-test (70.25>75.41). It can be said that, score is significance difference of speaking achievement after they have been taught by using Guessing Games. In this case, the writer suggests that Guessing Game is one of effective technique in improving Students’ speaking ability.
