The purpose of this research is to investigate the English Teachers’ Perceptions and Obstacles on the Implementation of ICT in ELT Classroom. The objectives of this study are to investigate the reasons of English teachers of public senior high schools in Banda Aceh to use ICT, to know their perception on the ICT, and to know the obstacles they face when using ICT and linking demographic factors such as age, gender, degree and teaching experience with their perceptions and obstacles in using ICT. This study used mixed methods, qualitative and quantitative in nature. The subjects of this study were 26 English teachers of 16 public senior high schools in Banda Aceh. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaire and interview. The data were analyzed and interpreted through qualitative and quantitative procedures. The results showed that English teachers use ICT to assist them in teaching such as searching for learning materials, the meaning of words in online dictionaries, sending email, and preparing presentation. They agreed that ICT is very helpful in teaching. However, the limited time and tools, coupled with a poor internet connection as well as a lack of knowledge and experience of ICT training became obstacles that the teachers face in using ICT. Demographic factors (age, gender, degree, and teaching experience) do not make significant differences in terms of perceptions and obstacles of English teachers in using ICT. Through this study, the teachers are expected to further deepen their knowledge of ICT so as to improve their skills in teaching English using ICT.
