Abstract Name : Jannaton Ulya Student No. : 0906102050070 Study Program : English Education Title : Improving Students’ Speaking Ability by Using Guessing Games (An Experimental Research at the First Year Student of SMAN 5 Banda Aceh) Keyword: Speaking, Guessing Games, improve. This study is focused on whether Guessing Games improve students’ speaking ability. The hypothesis of this study is The Use of Guessing games in improving students speaking ability (Ha). In order to achieved the objective, the writer used one group pre-test post-test designed. The population of this study was the first year students of SMAN 5 Banda Aceh. The sample of this study was in class 1-is-1. The number of the students was 16 students. There were five meetings during the experiment. Before the experiment was conducted, the students were given a pre-test. The result data analysis revealed that the students’ score of speaking after taught by using Guessing Games has been improved. This is proven by the improvement of students’ learning outcomes. The mean score of post-test is higher than of the pre-test (83.1 > 49.4). It can be said that, score is significance difference of speaking achievement after they have been taught by using guessing games. In this case, the writer suggests that guessing games is one of effective technique in improving student speaking ability.
