The title of this research is “Cultural Identity in Intercultural Communication of Sumatera Studemts at Syiah Kuala University. This study aims to determine, determine, describe, and analyze the strategies of West Sumatran students an adapting while leavingtheir hometown to study at Syiah Kuala University. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interviews and documentation techniques. The informants in this resourch were based on a pupossive sampling technique with criteria of Syiah Kuala University studentscoming from West Sumatra who were Minangkabau ethnicity, informants were willing and able to convey information in a comprehensive research as expected by the researcher, and students who live in Darussalam analysis was carried out by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and deduction. The results of this study incate that in communicating with the community there are no obstacles and difficulties for overseas students in West Sumatra. Overseas students from West Sumatra can adapt abd are able to adapt very well. There was no significant change in identity and attitude towards their personality during their personality during their study at Syiah Kuala University
