Abstract name : sevty emafetery student no. : 1406102020011 study program : english education title : improving studentsí reading skill through two stay two stray (an experimental study to the second year student at smpn 16 banda aceh) key words: two stay two stray, reading skill the objectives of this study are to figure out whether the use of two stay two stray improve the second year students of smpn 16 banda aceh in reading and to find out the studentsí perspective about the use of two stay two stray. the population of this study is the second year students of smpn 16 banda aceh. the writer chose one class as the sample in this study. the data was collected by using tests and questionnaire. the results are analyzed by using statistical formula. the result shows that the use of two stay two stray in the teaching reading to the second year students of smpn 16 banda aceh was successful. it can be seen from the mean scores of the experimental class was

84.70. the students can master the reading skill and they can answer the questions based on the text. the result shows that the t-score (6.81) was higher than t-table (2.021). it indicates that the students in the experimental class who are taught by using two stay two stray get better improvement than before they are taught by using it. the students gave positive responses in related to strategy, positive relationship, motivation and material given after learning by using tsts. it can increase their self-confidence, social interaction, individual accountability, group skill. they also got better improvement because they could understand the material by learning together as a
