Red palm oil (RPO) merupakan minyak yang mengandung asam lemak jenuh yang dapat meningkatkan kelembaban dan mengembalikan fungsi barrier epidermis pada kulit bibir sehingga dapat digunakan dalam sediaan lip balm stick sebagai emolien. Penelitian tentang formulasi sediaan lip balm stick dengan red palm oil dan ekstrak etanol kulit buah manggis (Garcinia mangostana L) sebagai pewarna telah dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan lip balm stick red palm oil yang memenuhi persyaratan standar evaluasi sediaan pelembab bibir yang baik, untuk menghasilkan lip balm stick yang dapat meningkatkan kelembaban bibir dan konsentrasi red palm oil yang memberikan peningkatan kelembaban paling tinggi. Ekstrak kulit manggis sebagai pewarna diperoleh dengan metode maserasi memiliki karakteristik berupa esktrak kental berwarna merah bata memiliki kadar air sebesar 9,16% ± 1,44, kadar abu total 4,06% ± 0,37, kadar sari larut air 20,3% ± 0,2 dan kadar sari larut etanol 20,6% ± 2,5. Uji fitokimia terhadap ekstrak menunjukkan keberadaan metabolit sekunder alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, saponin, dan tanin. Sediaan dibuat dengan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol kulit manggis sebesar 5% dan variasi konsentrasi red palm oil 10%, 15% dan 20%. Formula yang disusun dalam penelitian ini menghasilkan sediaan lip balm berbentuk stick solid dengan aroma essence vanilla, dan memiliki tekstur yang halus dan homogen dengan rata-rata pH (4,5-6,5) serta tidak mengiritasi bibir. Hasil uji kesukaan menunjukkan formulasi F2 (RPO 15%) sangat disukai dari parameter warna, aroma, tekstur. Hasil uji kelembaban menunjukkan formulasi yang dapat meningkatkan kelembaban adalah F3 (RPO 20%) dengan rata-rata peningkatan kelembaban 11,35%. Berdasarkan keseluruhan hasil evaluasi tersebut maka red palm oil dan ekstrak etanol kulit manggis yang diformulasikan dalam sediaan lip balm stick memenuhi persyaratan standar sediaan pelembab bibir.

ABSTRACT Red palm oil (RPO) is an oil that can be used as an emollient for making lip balm stick because it contains saturated fatty acids that can improve moisture and restore the function of the epidermal barrier on the lips skin. so that it can be used in the preparation of lip balm sticks as an emollient. Red palm oil and ethanol extract of mangosteen rind (Garcinia mangostana L) colors as dyes has been carried out. The purpose of this study was to produce lip balm stick red palm oil that met the standard requirements for evaluation of good lip balm preparations, to produce lip balm sticks that could increase lip moisture and red palm oil concentrations that provided the highest moisture increase. Mangosteen peel extract as dye obtained by the maceration method has the characteristics of a viscous brick-red extract with a water content of 9.16% ±1.44, a total ash content of 4.06% ± 0.37, a water-soluble essence of 20.3% ± 0.2 and ethanol soluble essence content of 20.6% ± 2.5. Phytochemical tests on the extract showed the presence of secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins and tannins. The preparations were made with a concentration of ethanol extract of mangosteen peel of 5% and various concentrations of red palm oil 10%, 15% and 20%. The formula compiled in this study produces lip balm in the form of a solid stick with vanilla essence aroma, and has a smooth and homogeneous texture with an average pH (4.5-6.5) and does not irritate the lips. The results of the preference test showed that the F2 formulation (15% RPO) was highly favored from the parameters of color, aroma, texture. The results of the humidity test showed that the formulation that increased humidity was F3 (20% RPO) with an average increase in humidity of 11.35%. Based on the overall results of the evaluation, the red palm oil and ethanol extract of mangosteen peel which are formulated lip balm stick preparations meet the standard requirements for lip balm preparations.
