Timbulnya rasa nyeri pada lansia yang disebabkan oleh peradangan sendi secara akut menyebabkan lanjut usia tidak dapat melakukan aktivitasnya dan mengalami kecemasan jika sewaktu-waktu nyeri itu muncul. Gangguan
afektif komorbid seperti depresi, stress, kecemasan serta penggunaan obatobatan pada lansia dengan arthritis rheumatoid dianggap menjadi faktor yang bisa mempengaruhi penurunan fungsi kognitif pada lansia. Tujuan dari
penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana fungsi kognitif dan kecemasan pada lanjut usia dengan arthritis di Kota Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif eksploratif dengan pendekatan crosssectional study. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah lansia di Kecamatan Baiturrahman yang berjumlah 278 orang dan penelitian ini menggunakan
Teknik Accidental Sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan Saint Louis University Mental Status Examination (SLUMS) dan Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa fungsi kognitif pada responden arthritis berada pada kategori normal dengan jumlah 213 orang (76,6%), Kecemasan pada responden arthritis berada pada kategori tidak mengalami kecemasan sebanyak 138 orang (49,6%). Meskipun fungsi kognitif dan kecemasan masih dalam batas normal, perlu diingat bahwa kondisi ini dapat berubah sewaktu-waktu, terutama jika arthritis nya memburuk. Skrining rutin dan tindak lanjut diperlukan untuk mendeteksi setiap perubahan sehingga perawat dapat menerapkan intervensi yang tepat.

The emergence of pain in the elderly caused by acute inflammation of the joints causes the elderly to be unable to carry out their activities and experience anxiety if at any time the pain appears. Comorbid affective disorders such as depression, stress, anxiety and drug use in the elderly with rheumatoid arthritis are considered as factors that can affect the decline in cognitive function in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to find out how cognitive function and anxiety are in elderly people with arthritis in Banda Aceh City. This study uses a descriptive exploratory design with a cross-sectional study approach. The population in this study were the elderly in the Baiturrahman District, totaling 278 people and this study used the Accidental Sampling technique. The instruments used were the Saint Louis University Mental Status Examination (SLUMS) and the Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS). The results showed that cognitive function in arthritis respondents was in the normal category with a total of 213 people (76.6%). Anxiety in arthritis respondents was in the category of not experiencing anxiety as many as 138 people (49.6%). Although the cognitive function of the older adults and their anxiety was still within the normal range, it is essential to keep in mind that this condition can change in later life, especially if their arthritis worsens. From these results, we can conclude that routine screening and follow-up are needed to detect any changes, and nurses can implement appropriate interventions.
