Setiap manusia memiliki pemikiran, cerita, ide, pendapat, pesan dalam benaknya masing-masing yang dapat diungkapkan dengan berbagai cara, salah satunya melalui lagu. Untuk memahami konteks dalam lirik lagu, diperlukan deiksis dan referensi. Deiksis berkaitan dengan penyandian berbagai karakteristik konteks di sekitar ujaran, serta di dalam ujaran itu sendiri, sedangkan referensi berkaitan dengan makna yang terkandung dalam konteks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis deiksis persona, deiksis tempat dan deiksis waktu yang digunakan dalam album Ervan Ceh Kul Kupi Gayo dan makna acuan pada lirik lagu tersebut. Sumber diambil dari album Kupi Gayo karya Ervan Ceh Kul yang berjudul Renggali, Gere Musampe, Teluk Nate, Pemanis, Amik-amiken, Seranting Tajuk, Kupi Gayo, Berijin, Sirnem dan Lut Belang. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data analisis dokumen. Teori Grundy (2000) digunakan untuk menganalisis data yang berkaitan dengan jenis-jenis deiksis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 106 data yang mengandung deiksis persona terdiri dari 62 data, deiksis tempat terdiri 33 data dan deiksis waktu terdiri 11 data.

Every human have their own thoughts, stories, ideas, opinions, messages in their mind that can be express in many ways, such as by the songs. To understand the context in the lyrics of the song, deixis and reference is needed. Deixis concerned with the encoding of various characteristics of the contexts around the utterances, as well as within the utterances themselves while reference concerned with the meaning that contain in the context. The study aims to find out the type of person deixis, place deixis and time deixis used in Ervan Ceh Kul’s album Kupi Gayo and the reference meaning on the song lyrics. The source is taken from a Kupi Gayo album by Ervan Ceh Kul entitled Renggali, Gere Musampe, Teluk Nate, Pemanis, Amik-amiken, Seranting Tajuk, Kupi Gayo, Berijin, Sirnem and Lut Belang. The research design used in this research is qualitative research with document analysis as a data collection technique. Grundy’s theory (2000) used to analyze the data related to the types of deixis. The result of this research shows that there are 106 data which contain person deixis were consist 62 data, place deixis consist 33 data and time deixis consist 11 data.
