dr. Yeni Maryati, KORELASI KADAR FERITIN SERUM TERHADAP HASIL UJI TUBERKULIN PADA ANAK DENGAN TALASEMIA-β MAYOR DI RSUDZA BANDA ACEH. Banda Aceh Prog. Studi Pendidikan Dokter Spesialis,2022

(r = - 0,22;p = 0,222) kata kunci: talasemia-β mayor, feritin serum, tuberkulin, tuberkulosis

Abstract

Background: Thalassemia-β major is a hereditary disease that was a global health problem with high rates of mortality and morbidity in the pediatric population. Thalassemia patients with regular transfusions will tend to experience increased levels of serum ferritin, making it potential to develop infection. Objectives: this study conducting to evaluate the correlation serum ferritin levels to tuberculin testing results in children with thalassemia-β major. Method:This study included an observational study with cross sectional design conducted at the regional General Hospital of Dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. Evaluation of the risk tuberculosis infection is carried out by tuberculin skin testing 0.1 mL. Serum ferritin levels are performed with enzyme-linked immunosrbant assay technique. The Spearman rank test was conducted with a 95% confidence level. Result: A total of 32 subjects were involved in the study with mean age of 12.19 years and female predominance of 56.3%. The average serum ferritin level of subjects with thalassemia-β major tuberculin positive was 3.255 (568 – 12.057) ng/L and the tuberculin test diameter was 2 mm. Conclusion: There was no correlation between serum ferritin levels in children with thalassemia-β major to the risk of tuberculosis infection based on the results of tuberculin skin testing (r = - 0.22;p = 0.222). Keywords : thalassemia-β major, serum ferritin, tuberculin, tuberculosis
