Abstract Name : Khalisa Amila Student No. : 1306102020067 Department/Program : English Education/Undergraduate Title : Investigating English Teacher Role In Teaching Learning Process In 2013 Curriculum (A qualitative study in SMPN Banda Aceh) Keywords: English Teacher Role, 2013 Curriculum, Teaching Learning Process. The aim of this study is to figure out the roles teacher use in teaching English based on 2013 curriculum. This study is qualitative method. The framework of teacher's role is promoted by Harmer (2001 & 2007), there are nine roles: controller, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, resource, tutor, observer, and facilitator. The instruments used were observation, documentation, and interview. The result shows that teachers only employed roles as controller, assessor, prompter and tutor. The first teacher implemented controller, assessor and prompter. Meanwhile, the second teacher implemented controller, assessor, prompter and tutor. In addition, the most frequent role used by both of teachers are controller and assessor. Moreover, the finding of this study shows that teacher did not use roles, namely, organizer, participant, resource, observer and facilitator as stated by Harmer for active learning classroom, 2013 curriculum. As further recommendation, it is best to look out English teacher role with another curriculum.
