Abstract Name : Fatima Zahra Student Number : 1006102020071 Study Program : English Education Title : The Correlation Between Students’ Metacognitive Awarenessand Their ReadingComprehension Key words : Metacognitive Awareness,ReadingComprehension This study aimed to find out the correlation between students’ metacognitiveawarenessandtheirreading comprehension. The data was collected from a number of 30X IPA 2 students of SMA Laboratorium UNSYIAH Banda Aceh. In this research, a reading comprehension test and a questionnaireused as the instruments. The reading comprehension test and questionnaire were given to the students in order to find the correlation between students’ metacognitiveawarenessandtheirreading comprehension. The data was analysed by usingSPSS version 18. From the analysis, the value of correlation of both variables was 0.000 which was less than critical limit of α (0.05) and there was a significant relationship betweenmetacognitiveawarenessandtheirreading comprehension. There was also a positive correlation between both variables. It means that the more metacognitive awareness the students have, the better understanding they have in reading comprehension. In addition, the kind of metacognitive awareness strategieswhichwas mostly used by the students was Global Reading Strategies.
